Variable-level Metadata Collection

Collective Board Meeting Summary: The HEAL Connections Team was introduced to the board. Anthony and Phil presented the proposed approach to collecting variable-level metadata (VLMD) from HEAL studies. Discussion included how to handle multiple research sites, multiple VLMD versions, and multiple publications by the same study. Members emphasized the need to educate investigators on the benefits of employing the best tools and processes for sharing VLMD in the planning phase of the study and the importance of including the meaning of the variables from the human perspective to make metadata truly usable.
